A Sharing: Emmett’s first meeting with the animal-people

The following is an except from my manuscript Beings of SEU. This is the opening of the chapter when the wolf god Emmett agrees to help the animal-people get the freedom that many of them desire. As of now I still don’t have a name for the animal-people hence the word animal-people but they are evolved animals with awareness and understanding of free will and many of them want it. I will share a post about the novel in the coming days but the story really boils down to individual freedom and empowerment for a race of beings that were created as one entity.

Oh. I plan to do something like this with each chapter– a few posts of about 600-700 words each. Hopefully I will be able to show how the essay posts on this blog tie in with the excepts of the manuscript.

No matter what, Emmett did not feel as prepared as he had last night. There was something about knowing that in a few hours he would be before a group of beings that wanted more than what had been given to them by birth. Sabrina said that they wanted empowerment but he questioned what power was there for them to have. Rabbit told him that it was all about being able to experience the manifestations of your choices. But that was the thing, as animal-people they didn’t have power of creation and the Spiritual Law of cause and effect didn’t apply. They were asking for him to go against the design of the Creator of All That Is and All That Isn’t. He was only a god and couldn’t be responsible for these people or could he. His father felt that it was the job of all the gods to give the animal-people the same thing that the human-people had since they too had consciousness within self. It was that belief which caused his father to lose his life as well as the lives of the other animal gods.

As Emmett sat on the edge of the bed with his bare feet on the cold floor, he felt the energy of the sacred ground which he called home. Not that he didn’t normally feel the pulse of all those who watched after him but today was special. He tried to immerse himself in his morning prayers but his thoughts continue to drift off to the memory of a weasel-woman named Sarah who squatted on her hind hunches while crying and begging that he grant her the chance to use free will the way that Sabrina and Rabbit did. Emmett’s lip curled upon remembering the image. He opened his eyes and sighed. The weight of this decision was heavy and so consuming that he was having a hard time keeping his humanoid form. “Why do they want to go against the will of the Creator of All That Is and All That Isn’t?” He asked of no one.

Emmett couldn’t understand it. He couldn’t properly digest the requests for help which came from his father, the gods who died trying to free the animal-people, Sabrina, Rabbit, and he especially couldn’t understand the cries from the animal-people challenging the natural order of things. Why did all of them feel that he was the one to do something that hadn’t been done in nearly eight hundred years? He stood and pulled off his night shirt while making his way to the shower. Each step required concentration that he did not have and by the time he was in the bathroom he was in wolf form. “Well, this is great. I can’t even keep it together enough to take a shower. How am I supposed to be able to grant freedom that my father couldn’t even do while in his prime? I bet he never let his appearance slip beyond his control.” And with that statement he laid on the floor waiting for his thoughts to become aligned with the vibrational pulse of the human-people.

Time went by slowly but eventually he was able to change back into human form and take a shower. But before that happen Sabrina called him at least a dozen times before finally coming into his room to see what the hold-up was. Upon seeing him in his canine form she knelt down and rubbed him behind the ears. She was kind and compassionate about it all telling him that she would keep his breakfast warm in the microwave. But Rabbit, well Rabbit was Rabbit about the situation and told him that he was worrying about something which time had come a long time ago. As Rabbit explained it, this was just the beginning. Rabbit told him that it wasn’t a failure of the gods who went before them but instead a failure of the true desire of the animal-people who stood beside them. This time would be different, Rabbit guaranteed it. And before he left, Rabbit reminded Emmett that there would be about one-hundred and seventy animal-people at the den of the wolf god waiting for instructions and a beacon of hope. One-hundred and seventy of them who wanted Emmett’s final answer as to whether he would pick up where his father and the others left off.

Beings of SEU- Book 1: Emmett’s focus as a wolf god

In one of the novels that I’m currently working on, one of the supporting characters is a young god. To be more exact, his name is Emmett and he’s a wolf god. At this point in the manuscript some of the animal-people come to him in hopes that he will be able to break the ethereal chains of consciousness that bind them to the weasel queen Vivian, the antagonist of this tale. This is a big deal considering that Emmett is trying to figure out if he’s strong enough to be a productive god of living beings born without free will, not to mention the fact that if he does grant their request this means that they will come to him once need arises again. Sabrina, Emmett’s adopted human mother and protagonist, tells him to embrace who and what he is. Meaning Emmett must begin thinking like a god and therefore considering what he want for his world and the beings that live in it. As he start to ponder his godhood Sabrina remind him that he’s not God, Creator of All That Is and All That Isn’t, and because of that he owe it to his people to go beyond the basic needs of survival with his thinking.

This got me to wondering, as a god, what do I want to immediately manifest into my realm of reality? Knowing that my basic needs of survival are met, how do I continue with my innate desire to evolve and create? More importantly what do I create? The answer didn’t come easy and because of that I want to share it in both my novel and in this blog post.

Keeping with the wisdom that knowledge and experience is best obtained according to divine process, I decided that there would only be three things that Emmett/I would focus on during this story/stage of spiritual development; the first being embracing the idea of Higher Truth and Unity. I see that in order to properly deal with whatever may come next I need to personally know that all is love, all is one, and everything is connected and that is different from knowing that all is in divine order with divine intelligence. It’s the same thing for Emmett; he doesn’t know what will come to the connected race of animal-people once he breaks their chains but he understand that in order for life in his reality to evolve to the next level he needs to let all people experience what it is like to be both part of the whole and an individual. He has taken up the beliefs of his father which stated that we can still be connected while being apart. Just thinking about embracing Unity in a way that enable the whole to move on to the next step changes things for both worlds.

The second thing of focus is the realization that in order for people to truly be free they need to follow their own inner guidance, or soul, and let the traditional idea of leadership fall to the wayside. Vivian has proven herself to be a ruthless leader by killing, maiming, and keeping the animal-people in fear just like her father. Many gods have given their lives in an attempt to bring Vivian down, as a matter of fact it is by Vivian’s magic that Emmett’s father died, and that is something that frighten Sabrina and Emmett. But as a human Sabrina understand that the animal-people have it in them to make decisions for themselves since some of them are coming to Emmett and the guardians for help. Although Emmett believe that the chains must serve a purpose since the Creator of All That Is and All That Isn’t made them at the beginning of time, he look at the humans who follow their own individual paths but seem to be moving as a unit and gain inspiration. I too am watching my people seek individual leadership of self and I must say that I like it. By keeping with my first focus I am able to know that as one mind we are moving according to a divine directive which is leading us to total experience of this realm and more. Therefore, it is my job and the job of each and every reflection of me to support a new definition of freedom and independence.

The final focus is on the belief that people are the living abundance and that they are creators not just co-creators. No longer infants, we are becoming aware of the fact that what happens in our lives is all our doing while still embracing the truth that one way the universe support our thoughts is with the Universal Law of Cause and Effect. I see this focus as being the most exciting of the three as I now get a chance to see what I’m made of as a creator. Again, not that I don’t think that the universe is here by my side creating with me but I no longer believe that I am dependent on the universe to work ‘with’ me, I am and have always been free to create what I like. I am abundance and all is within me because all is one. In the story Sabrina knows that she has to convince all the animal-people that they are capable of creating anything that they desire by themselves since they are a magical race after all and have been producing according to the will of the chain bearer since the dawn of time. This is a concept that is totally new to them and is not well received at all but Sabrina doesn’t give up and by the end of Emmett’s first meeting with the people who want their chains broken she has convince everyone to just think about the idea of pulling on their own resources.

So those are the three things that Beings of SEU- book one will focus on. As a storyteller I’m excited to share my exploration into these areas beyond a one page blog entry and hope that by the time I’m finished with this second draft I will be well into the change of my own thoughts, behavior, and experiences. That’s one of the perks of being a writer.
